Plain, specific write-ups of things people ask about most: planning for safety, what a referral centre visit is actually like, and what reporting does and does not involve.

Do you have to report to the police first?

Covering your tracks
If someone else uses your phone
Your browser records the pages you visit, and nothing this site does can change that. Here is what to do about it, plainly.
Use the Leave this site button
It is at the bottom right of every page, and the Esc key does the same thing. It replaces this page with a weather site so pressing Back does not bring you here, and clears what this app has stored. It cannot erase your history. Only you can do that.
Browse privately from the start
On Chrome, open a new Incognito tab. On Safari, tap the tabs button and choose Private. Pages opened that way are not saved to history at all.
Clear history afterwards
Chrome: menu → History → Clear browsing data → “Last hour”. Safari on iPhone: Settings → Safari → Clear History and Website Data. Clearing only the last hour looks less conspicuous than clearing everything.
Think about who can see the phone bill
Calls to some helplines appear on an itemised bill. If that is a risk, use a friend’s phone, a work phone, or WhatsApp over wifi.
Installing this app puts an icon on your home screen
Useful if the phone is yours alone. If it is not, skip installing and use a private tab instead.
